Remember our neighborhood service auction? This year I decided to try another cupcake themed item. (What is it with me? You'd think I'd be over this obsession by now.) I've been seeing these cute diy cake stands all over the place. They are made from plates as the top - and candlesticks as the base. So when I went to the thrift store to acquire my goods, I was giddy when I found these white square cocktail plates and these small crystal candlesticks. After they've been washed and dried thoroughly, a little epoxy (and 24 hours to set) is all it takes to stick them together and transform them into cupcake pedestals. I added a few red and pink ribbons to gussy them up for Valentines day. And of course, a red velvet cupcake and paper lollipop as a cupcake topper. I thought they turned out pretty cute. Watch out friends! These are so delightful to make, I might be making these for all of you this year!

I Share because I Care :)

It's my last party post I swear. I was just so excited about how great these paper stars turned out, I wanted to share the template I found on a wonderful blog just last week. Simple little decorations that are inexpensive AND easy to assemble absolutely make my heart pitter patter. We copied the template onto 12x12 Amy Butler scrapbook paper and just followed the simple mountain and valley fold directions and wa la! We hung them from Josie's highchair, from our "happy birthday" banner, and from all the windows. Hope you can find a fun excuse to make some too.-amr

Not So Crafty
I've been in such a creative place this past couple weeks. Turns out, I'm more creative than I am crafty. I had a great idea to revamp some previously loved but currently loathed Christmas ornaments. Let's just say they quickly made their way into the current "donate" pile. (Maybe someone else can rescue them from my torturous try.) I have however, been yearning to do a silhoutte of my kids using some funky papers. Perhaps this DIY from Design*Sponge may be just the perfect project simple enough to curb my creative craving. -amr

Last Minute Valentine Craft
Some of my favorite blogs have simple tutorials on them, so I've decided to share one of my favorite projects here: Patch Applique T's. They are fairly simple and utterly stylish. Of course, these are the ones I made for the girls for Valentines day.1. Cut your design out of scrap fabrics - I chose a heart with a stem and a leaf
2. Place design onto a sheet of Wonder Under (which is available at any fabric store) and iron on your design (*Be sure and place a rag or scrap piece of paper between the iron and the fabric design so as not to get the glue from the Wonder Under on your iron. You may even want to place a fabric onto your ironing board so you don't get any glue on your ironing board cover.)
3. So the layers are this from bottom to top: rag, Wonder Under, fabric design, rag, iron.
4. Now that the fabric and the Wonder Under are sealed together (fabric on top), peel off the back side of the Wonder Under (on the back of your design) and iron the actual design onto the t-shirt. You will be ironing on the top (right side out) of the fabric straight onto the t-shirt.
4. Reinforce the design by sewing your newly made fabric patch on the t-shirt using a zig-zag stitch around the perimeter of the design.
I didn't even buy new t's to make these -I just used two stripe t's the girls already had. You could do this for any holiday - a green shamrock for St. Patricks Day, a bunny for Easter, a cupcake and candle for their birthday, you get the drift...Have fun and feel free to ask any questions. (And a special thanks to Kim for her help.)
